Passementerie—decorative and functional trimming—is as much fun to weave as it is to pronounce! This class will introduce students to the sometimes familiar, sometimes unusual, and always clever world of passementerie weaving. Try your hand at weaving fringe, tape, and “lace.” We’ll use table looms, small treadle operated looms, rigid heddle looms, tablet or “card” looms, and a genuine 19th-century Parisian passementerie loom. If you’ve never gone narrow, this workshop will give you an overview of the basic principles of passementerie weaving.
