SCHOLARSHIPS

The Newbury School of Weaving recognizes that for some members of our community, the costs associated with attending programs can pose a significant barrier to access. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to offer a limited number of scholarships annually. Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis and applications are reviewed by our staff and Board of Directors.

A limited number of scholarships are currently available to cover half of a program tuition, and are presented as a discount code that the recipient may apply when registering. Individuals may receive up to one (1) scholarship award per calendar year. A specific scholarship fund has been generously sponsored by our host, the Newbury Woman's Club (NWC), for residents of the town of Newbury and the adjoining towns. NWC scholarship applicants who meet our other scholarship criteria may receive awards up to $375. To specifically apply for a NWC scholarship, select the appropriate option on the application. This does not disqualify the applicant from receiving a regular scholarship should the NWC fund be exhausted.

We acknowledge that craft education and learning experiences like the ones offered at Newbury have often been out of reach for many people in marginalized communities. Applicants who self-identify as members of these communities are encouraged to apply, though all for whom attendance poses a financial burden are welcome to submit an application. To determine income eligibility, please use the MIT Living Wage Calculator to determine if your income falls at or below the living wage for your area.

If you are interested in endowing a permanent scholarship fund, please contact us.
